Status: Full Time (temporary)
Hours: Continental Days
Pay Rate: $18.50 per hour
The Rapid Response team will maintain a visible security presence across various City of Brampton locations, including public venues and facilities.
- Responding to and documenting incidents of criminal behavior, suspicious activities, and hazardous conditions.
- Managing access control by unlocking and securing doors and offices.
- Providing a consistent security presence in customer service areas.
- Deterring and addressing prohibited actions such as loitering and smoking.
- Ensuring the safety and security of buildings after hours.
- Conducting patrols utilizing electronic guard tour systems.
Job Duties
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team.
- Proactively conducting patrols and addressing policy violations while noting facility concerns.
- Writing detailed incident reports for emergencies and daily operations.
- Responding to security alarms and emergencies promptly and professionally.
- Monitoring and authorizing the entry and exit of employees and visitors.
- De-escalating crises and providing support while coordinating with emergency services.
- Contributing to team objectives by achieving related results.
- Managing key, radio, and pager audits.
- Handling lost and found items and inquiries.
- Reporting unsafe working conditions across departments.
- Providing first aid and medical assistance when necessary.
- Conducting interior and exterior patrols.

Job Requirements:
- Minimum of two (2) years of security experience.
- Experience in a municipal government or corporate security setting is preferred.
- Dispatch and mobile experience is an asset.
- Post-secondary education in a relevant field is advantageous.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Valid Security License for the Province of Ontario is required.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification is mandatory.
- Valid Ontario G Class Driver's License is necessary.
- Clean Driver's Abstract for the past three years is required.
- Physical demands include extensive walking and exposure to various weather conditions.
- Proficiency in using two-way radios and computer applications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are required; bilingual candidates are preferred.
- Participation in professional development and training is expected.
- Flexibility with shift availability is essential as security operations run 24/7.
- Previous experience in loss prevention or security is preferred.
- Completion of all required site training within 30 days of hire is necessary.
- Additional job-related tasks and responsibilities may be assigned.
- Successful completion of CPO certification within the first six months is required (training costs covered by Paladin).
