The role of the technical animator is crucial, as it enables animators to utilize their expertise effectively. In this position, you will apply your extensive knowledge of rigging and skinning techniques to develop the frameworks necessary for animators to animate characters in line with design specifications.

A technical animator possesses the expertise to design well-considered and optimized structures that align with production requirements, having experience with polygonal models to achieve optimal deformation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Comprehend the technical vision for animation development;
  • Operate within established technical limitations;
  • Create rigs and skinning for models of varying complexities;
  • Propose innovative tools and best practices;
  • Maximize resource reuse wherever feasible;
  • Maintain effective communication with animators and designers;
  • Evaluate the effects of production methods;
  • Assist animators in optimizing the integration and application of animations within the engine.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of five years of experience in the gaming industry;
  • Strong understanding of character rigging, including both body and facial rigging;
  • Proficiency in Maya and Unreal Engine;
  • Experience with scripting in leading 3D applications (Maya, Python);
  • Familiarity with creating state machines and establishing gameplay logic (blueprint);
  • Knowledge of animation principles such as layering and blending;
  • Experience with motion capture pipelines is advantageous;
  • Ability to communicate and draft documents in both French and English, with the majority of contracts being in English.
