About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety and Wellbeing Coordinator to join our team at the Canadian Red Cross. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in planning and organizing the delivery of Safety and Wellbeing services and associated procedures and tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Manager and Operations team to plan and organize the delivery of Safety and Wellbeing services and associated procedures and tools.
  • Ensure quality of service and compliance with Canadian Red Cross national standards, including minimum standards for community engagement and accountability, child protection, gender and diversity, and procedures for Safety and Wellbeing activities.
  • Provide technical support and build Operations personnel capacity in providing safe and supportive environments.
  • Help match beneficiaries' needs to the available health and social services (CIUSSS).
  • Raise awareness among internal and external stakeholders regarding the needs of beneficiaries facing specific vulnerabilities.
  • Support beneficiary and community engagement, as well as the development and maintenance of a referral process to map out community resources.
  • Support recruitment of Safety and Wellbeing staff.
  • Lead team meetings with personnel under your supervision and participate in Operations coordination meetings.
  • Escalate and manage complaints in accordance with Canadian Red Cross policies and procedures as needed.
  • Provide statistics as requested.
  • Represent the Canadian Red Cross with provincial and regional health and social services, and community partners, and participate in any coordination structures.
  • Support the Mental Health and Safety and Wellbeing program development plan in Quebec, as requested.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
  • Willingness to abide by the Fundamental Principles of the Movement and model the core competencies of the Canadian Red Cross: team excellence, service excellence, accountability, and a focus on results.
  • This position requires a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check.
  • A university degree in a related field (social work, psychology, special education, nursing, community work and public health).
  • Minimum of three (3) years relevant working experience and one year overseeing a team.
  • A relevant combination of training and experience may be considered.
  • Experience in planning and managing within a high-stress/complex environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with the MS Office suite.
  • Experience working with volunteers and managing volunteer resources.
  • Experience as a trainer an asset.
  • Being a member of a professional association relevant to the job duties is considered an asset.
  • Experience in case management and assessing case files is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and in cross-cultural contexts is an asset.
Working Conditions
  • Outside of deployments (Max 10% for this position), the incumbent can work from home or at the Canadian Red Cross offices.
  • Travel within the community is part of the job duties. A valid driver's licence is essential; travel between the assigned sites is expected.
  • Non-traditional work hours will be required to meet the needs of the volunteer teams, work during emergency responses, and perform on-call duty.
  • Ability to be on-call when scheduled, as required.
