Position Overview at Norwood Waterworks:

As a Shipping and Receiving Associate, your primary responsibilities will include the selection, packaging, and dispatching of customer orders, alongside the counting, verification, receipt, and organization of incoming materials and customer returns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all Health and Safety regulations while executing job responsibilities.
  • Manage the loading and unloading of delivery vehicles, and operate forklifts and other material handling machinery.
  • Receiving tasks involve:
    • Upon receipt of vendor shipments or customer returns, obtain and verify the packing slip against the materials received, noting any discrepancies or damages.
    • Print and confirm the computer-generated receiving documents, entering received materials into the inventory management system.
    • Identify special orders and damaged items, ensuring they are stored in the correct locations.
    • Document any shipping discrepancies on the freight carrier's Bill of Lading, initiate freight claims, and relay necessary paperwork to the appropriate team member.
  • Picking, packing, and shipping tasks include:
    • Select materials for customer orders, ensuring accurate counts and comparisons with shipping documentation.
    • Assemble and package materials appropriately for customer pick-up or shipment.
    • Complete necessary documentation for shipments delivered via third-party carriers or those requiring Transportation of Dangerous Goods documentation.
  • Notify the Manager of any inventory discrepancies and any damaged or defective materials that may affect customer service.
  • Maintain a clean and safe warehouse environment by removing empty cartons, metal banding, pallets, and other debris.
  • Report any safety concerns within the warehouse to the Warehouse Manager.
  • Assist colleagues in providing customer service at the counter.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Warehouse Manager.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong customer service and communication abilities.
  • Capacity to develop thorough product knowledge.
  • Willingness to learn safe operation of forklifts and other material handling equipment.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in order processing.
  • Able to learn and utilize the relevant software systems for order processing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience or knowledge in the construction industry.
  • Experience operating forklifts or similar equipment.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of local geography is preferred.
