About the Job

Gill Transit is seeking a skilled Flatbed Truck Driver to join our team. As a Flatbed Truck Driver, you will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently across various routes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Route Planning: Plan and adjust routes based on changing conditions to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
  • Vehicle Inspection: Perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in good working condition.
  • Maintenance: Perform preventive maintenance to ensure the vehicle is well-maintained and runs smoothly.
  • Communication: Receive and relay information to central dispatch and record cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption.
  • Cargo Security: Ensure the safety and security of cargo by tarping and securing it properly.
Requirements
  • Certifications: AZ class license, Air Brakes Endorsement, Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi-trailer trucks), and Air Brake (Z) Endorsement.
  • Documentation Knowledge: Bill of lading, driver logbook, inspection report, maintenance and repair reports, trans-border documentation, and trip reports.
  • Communication Systems Experience: Operate GPS and other navigation equipment.
  • Transportation/Travel Experience: International, local, long-haul, national, provincial/territorial, short-haul.
  • Security and Safety: Valid passport, criminal record check, driving record check (abstract), and drug test.
  • Transportation/Travel Information: Valid driver's license, willing to travel cross-border, willing to travel for extended periods, and willing to travel overnight.
  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Handling heavy loads, repetitive tasks, sitting, and up to 23 kg (50 lbs) weight handling.
  • Own Tools/Equipment: Cellular phone, steel-toed safety boots, safety vest, and gloves.
  • Personal Suitability: Excellent oral communication, flexibility, judgment, organized, reliability, hardworking, and patience.
