As our Electrical Engineer, you will apply your engineering expertise to ensure the efficient, safe, and economical operation of electrical substations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead cross-functional teams to optimize maintenance, prevent failures, and ensure maximum service continuity for customers.
- Estimate maintenance costs, forecast spare parts needs, schedule activities, and evaluate technical options.
- Prepare comprehensive commissioning packages to support capital initiatives.
- Engage in engineering investigations to troubleshoot and provide solutions for operational challenges.
- Assess equipment replacement needs and develop effective replacement strategies.
- Contribute to the development of computerized maintenance management systems.
- Identify and report safety hazards related to equipment maintenance.
- Provide operational support to internal stakeholders.
- Deliver engineering services for various aspects of substation design and equipment specifications.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of design criteria, materials, and processes through industry resources.
In the First 1-3 Years, You Will:
Engage in a collaborative environment, working with colleagues who support your continuous development. Your learning objectives will include:
- Understanding and applying relevant industry standards and practices.
- Gaining knowledge of low, medium, and high voltage utility equipment, including its functions and diagnostic testing.
- Working in the field to gain insights into the business operations.
- Building a strong foundation in equipment condition-based maintenance.
- Utilizing engineering judgment to identify safe and reliable solutions at optimal costs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with 2 to 7 years of experience in electrical substation engineering. Must meet registration requirements or be eligible for Professional Engineering status.
- Knowledge of transmission, distribution, and station components within an electrical utility context.
- Preference for candidates with hands-on experience in equipment testing and commissioning.
- General understanding of multi-disciplinary engineering and construction principles.
- Ability to develop computer models for equipment reliability and validity; knowledge of programming is a plus.
- Familiarity with safe work practices and policies.
- Proficiency in commonly used software such as MS Office, MS Project, and SharePoint.
- Strong planning and execution skills with a focus on customer experience.
- Ability to make informed decisions through accountability and problem-solving.
- Capacity to drive change through continuous improvement and innovation.
- Ability to foster working relationships based on respect, integrity, and teamwork.
