Job Title: Support Mentor

Job Summary:

The Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre Inc is seeking a Support Mentor to join our team. As a Support Mentor, you will work closely with individuals utilizing Amoowigamig, providing harm reduction trauma-informed supports and services. You will ensure safe access to the washroom facility, provide resource referrals, and engage in crisis management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop effective working relationships with individuals living unsheltered and the service community.
  • Understand the issues facing individuals at risk and the impact of trauma.
  • Support Indigenous values and knowledge of Indigenous cultures and community issues.
  • Communicate effectively in oral and written form, including strong skills in documentation.
  • Project a positive and respectful approach with all people.
  • Ensure ability to be flexible to work some evenings and weekends.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12, related experience in working with individuals living unsheltered.
  • Demonstrates interpersonal skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of community resources and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Current criminal record, prior contact, child abuse registry checks, and First Aid/CPR and NVCI certificates.
  • Must be vaccinated against COVID-19.
