With 25 acute care and 23 long-term care beds, our Diagnostic Imaging (DI) team is dedicated to delivering exceptional, patient-centered care. As a Diagnostic Sonographer I, you will collaborate with a dynamic team of skilled Technologists, Radiologists, and other hospital departments. Your role will involve managing examinations for inpatients, long-term care patients, outpatients, and emergency cases in a safe and efficient manner. This position may require flexibility in working various shifts and being on-call as needed, with a current focus on Monday to Friday daytime hours, subject to departmental requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

In your capacity as a Diagnostic Sonographer I, you will:

  • Conduct a range of standardized and intricate ultrasound procedures for accurate disease diagnosis and monitoring.
  • Prepare patients for examinations by reviewing their medical history and explaining the procedures involved.
  • Capture high-quality ultrasound images and take immediate action to address any abnormal findings.
  • Support clinical diagnosis, intervention, and patient management while ensuring optimal patient care and safety.
  • Assist Radiologists, Cardiologists, Perinatologists, and other medical professionals during specialized procedures as required.

Required Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • An extended diploma from an accredited ultrasound program or certification in Diagnostic Sonography from a recognized institution.
  • Active or eligible registration with Sonography Canada and/or Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT) and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.

Additional Qualifications:

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience in the ultrasound field.
  • N95 Fit Test completion.
  • Completion of It's Your Move training.
  • Familiarity with Connect Care.

  • Strong organizational skills and a sense of responsibility.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, showing tact and courtesy with patients, staff, and physicians.
  • The capacity to work independently and collaboratively, especially under pressure in emergency situations.
  • Good judgment, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to work.
  • Commitment to effective radiation protection and infection control practices.
