Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Culinary Professional to join our team at the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay (CBHSSJB). The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, seasoning, cooking, and portioning food, while ensuring the optimal use of food resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook food according to established recipes and standards
  • Ensure the optimal use of food resources, including inventory management and ordering supplies
  • Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, adhering to health and safety regulations
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff, as needed
  • Develop and implement menus, taking into account nutritional value and cultural preferences
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless food service operations
Requirements
  • Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) in professional cooking from a recognized school
  • High School Diploma and one year of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Food safety training (MAPAQ) or willingness to complete training
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Fluency in Cree and English
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a healthcare or social services setting
  • Knowledge of Cree culture and traditions
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
