Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Counter Assistant to join our team at Algonquin College's Food Services department. As a Counter Assistant, you will be responsible for providing friendly and efficient service to our customers, while maintaining a clean and sanitized work area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare food in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring a clean and sanitized work area.
  • Serve food on the counter and operate the cash register as required.
  • Stock product, sweep the area, empty garbage, and wash location dishes when necessary.
  • Wash, cut, and properly store food items as per directions and/or par stocks, ensuring a clean and sanitized work area.
  • Ensure proper labels are utilized for items.
Requirements
  • Secondary School (Grade 12) diploma.
  • Experience handling cash is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and/or in a team atmosphere.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to provide speedy, efficient, courteous, and tactful service.
  • Ability to lift, bend, push, pull, and stock a variety of merchandise.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge in kitchen sanitation and safety standards is an asset.

This is a part-time position, with a maximum of 24 hours per week. Some positions require early morning, day time, and evening hours. The location of work is within The Fix, Portable Feast, or Tim Hortons.

This position is subject to the terms of the Part-time Support Staff Collective Agreement.
