About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Engineer to join our team at Mohawk College. As a key member of our Infrastructure Specialists team, you will be responsible for the technical implementation and delivery of projects related to on-premises Exchange, Unified Communications, Server Systems, Microsoft M365, Microsoft Azure, and Amazon Web Services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the implementation and ongoing administrative operations of Microsoft 365 environment, Exchange E-mail, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and other Microsoft Cloud applications.
  • Creation of scripts, other automation techniques, and tools to provide automated playbooks to simplify complex and repetitive tasks.
  • Migration of mailboxes from on-premises Exchange server to Exchange online.
  • Automating and executing Office 365 procedures utilizing Windows PowerShell.
  • Work collaboratively with project teams and provide technical knowledge, expertise, and guidance to Management, Architecture Services, Infrastructure Specialists, and Project Delivery Leads on the technical implementation of Server and Cloud Systems.
  • Deliver on technical implementation of Private, Hybrid, and Public Cloud technologies that support enhancing business capabilities and services to the College.
  • Directly participate in the delivery and ongoing support of Unified Communications with Microsoft Teams replacing Microsoft Lync and legacy telecommunications technologies.
  • Directly participate in the delivery and ongoing support of M365 features and functionality including OneDrive, Microsoft Teams, Exchange on-prem and online, SharePoint Online, and maximizing College value by rolling out Microsoft A5 Cloud Licensing components.
  • Contribute to and review project plans and designs related to Private, Hybrid, and Public Cloud technologies.
  • Deliver quality technology systems aligned to Architectural Principles with Security and Privacy inherently built in by design and implementation.
  • Ensure that Security, Availability, and Event Monitoring technology is configured for new platforms or services.
  • Develop scripts related to the provisioning of services, user accounts, cloud platforms, and ongoing maintenance tasks introduced by projects.
  • Understand and support the deployment of loosely coupled distributed applications.
  • Provide exceptional customer service in response to requests made by facility, administrative and support staff, and vendors.
  • AD and Azure account, lifecycle, and license management.
  • Maintain, support, and troubleshoot Active Directory and Azure Active Directory including but not limited to user objects, group policies, organization units, and login scripts.
  • Directly support the ongoing transition of new projects, capabilities, and services and focus on developing knowledgebase articles, support articles, and public or internal reference documentation for new services.
  • Work collaboratively with IT Service Management and Service Desk teams to ensure that documentation is well written, understood, and communicated, and that Services published are up to date, accurate, and have Self-service functionality where applicable.
  • Monitor performance of new capabilities.
  • Monitor Office 365 Tenant for any major changes or outages and proactively update Service Desk & IT Management.
Requirements
  • 3-year diploma/degree in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 5 years working within a Technology Function at a Higher Education institution or similar where project delivery, collaboration, and on-the-job learning were leveraged to deliver enterprise projects.
  • Microsoft 365 applications and services.
  • Security and compliance features in Microsoft 365.
  • PowerShell scripting for automation and management tasks.
  • Migrating mailboxes from on-premise to Exchange Online.
  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
  • The ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse students, employees, and communities.
