Mechanic - Vehicle Repair Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Mechanic to join our Operations team at School District #23 (Central Okanagan). As a vital member of our team, you will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of our district vehicles, equipment, and buses.
Key Responsibilities- Repair and maintain district vehicles, including school buses, vans, and trucks, as well as district equipment such as mowers, snow blowers, and generators.
- Complete service and inspections on commercial vehicles to ensure they are safe and roadworthy.
- Keep work areas clean and organized to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with colleagues, district staff, and the public.
- Work independently with minimal supervision, using your skills and experience to diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues.
- Complete required District Health & Safety training to ensure a safe working environment.
- Grade 12 completion.
- Interprovincial Automotive Service Technician Trade Certification with an Interprovincial Commercial Transport Vehicle Trade Certification or an Interprovincial Heavy Duty Technician Trade Certification.
- Class 2 Driver's license with Air Endorsement.
- Eligibility to work under the British Columbia Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement (CVSE) Vehicle Inspection Program.
- Proven experience and demonstrated skills in the use and techniques of tools, equipment, and safety precautions pertaining to the use and maintenance of district fleet vehicles and equipment.
- Practical experience with electronic system diagnosis, electronic injection systems, diesel, electric, and natural gas powered vehicles, including vehicle components such as air brake systems, automatic transmissions, air bag systems, and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to carry, lift, push, and pull awkward or large heavy objects up to 50 lbs. or more.
