Job Summary

The Lac La Ronge Indian Band's Education Department is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Learning Supports Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our education team, you will play a vital role in supporting students, teachers, and staff to achieve academic success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies to promote student success, including creating learning plans and providing individualized support.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to identify students who require additional support and develop targeted interventions.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to teachers on effective teaching practices and strategies to support diverse learners.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with community partners, including schools, colleges, and universities, to support student success.
  • Develop and implement programs to promote student well-being, including mental health and wellness initiatives.
  • Conduct needs assessments and develop plans to support student improvement.
  • Provide feedback and coaching to staff on an ongoing basis.
  • Oversee the implementation of standardized tests and inventories to ensure compliance with provincial requirements.
  • Ensure the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date student records.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Education degree with a focus in Special Education.
  • Minimum of 5 years teaching experience, preferably in Special Education.
  • Resource room experience.
  • Strong elementary and/or secondary school administrator experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of school board policies, compliance regulations, and relevant legislation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Broad knowledge of child development and teaching methods.
  • Cultural sensitivity.
  • Ability to speak Cree language an asset.
  • Ability to recognize individual learning styles and characteristics of learners.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft software, including Word, Excel, etc.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's license.
