Job Summary:

SMS Equipment Inc. is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team in Lloydminster. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing assemblies, preventative maintenance, repairs, and complete overhauls on heavy equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks, including inspections, repairs, and replacements of parts to ensure equipment is in good working condition.
  • Diagnostic Skills: Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized or other testing equipment to determine the extent of repair required.
  • Problem-Solving: Make recommendations regarding extent of repairs and suggest methods of improvement.
  • Technical Knowledge: Interpret work order and technical manuals to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Complete job-specific reports and paperwork as needed.
  • Safety and Compliance: Maintain a strong awareness and attitude towards workplace health and safety, adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Communication: Possess strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with colleagues and customers.

Requirements:

  • Certification: Possess a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification.
  • Experience: Have experience in repair of construction, forestry, and utility equipment.
  • Travel: Be willing to travel as required to customers' locations.
  • Additional Requirements: A valid Class 5/G driver's license and experience with Komatsu equipment are considered assets.

Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will be required to regularly work at our customers' locations, adhering to their site-specific requirements. This may include working in adverse weather conditions and lifting up to 50 lbs.
