Job Summary

The Assistant Store Manager plays a vital role in supporting the Store Manager in driving store operations, customer service, and sales growth. This position requires a strong leader who can effectively supervise and train store staff, while also building positive relationships with customers and wholesale partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support business strategies to increase sales and optimize profitability
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent service
  • Build and maintain knowledge of all products to ensure effective customer recommendations
  • Build positive relationships with wholesale and retail customers
  • Complete store administration tasks
  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures, including safety, loss prevention, and security
  • Maintain outstanding store condition and visual merchandising standards
  • Support employee training, development, and performance management
  • Respond to and resolve customer and employee complaints
  • Partner with the Store Manager to make outside sales calls to increase market share
Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment
  • Must have a valid, unrestricted driver's license
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 70 pounds occasionally
  • If internal to Sherwin-Williams, must have received at least a "meets expectations" rating on the most recent performance appraisal
  • If internal to Sherwin-Williams, must have completed all required HR Cloud eLearning courses
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least one year of experience in a retail, sales, or customer service role
  • At least one year of experience in a leadership role, supervising others, or leading teams
  • Previous experience selling paint and paint-related products
  • Experience using timekeeping and/or customer relationship management systems
  • An associate degree or higher in business, sales, or marketing
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in more than one language
