Job Title: Computational Immunologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Computational Immunologist to join our team at the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization (VIDO). As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for developing and applying cutting-edge computational technologies to design novel vaccines and therapeutic approaches.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will have a PhD in life science or computer science with a minimum of 3 years of experience in molecular immunology and medicinal chemistry. You will be expected to work in close collaboration with our Principal Scientists and external research sponsors to design and model novel vaccine antigens and epitopes binding to MHCs in humans and/or swine and cattle.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and apply advanced computational models and algorithms for vaccine design and development
  • Collaborate with research teams to design and implement large-scale computational simulations
  • Conduct sound numerical experiments and interpret findings in a trans-disciplinary team-based environment
  • Develop and lead training programs in computational immunology for technical staff, graduate students, and post-doctoral fellows
Requirements:

Applicants must have a PhD and >3 years relevant research experience in applying expert theoretical and practical knowledge of computational immunology and medicinal pharmacology in a trans-disciplinary environment. Demonstrated work in computational modeling and simulation of immunologically-related complexes of proteins, including MHCs/SLAs with epitopes and their linkers for vaccine development, is essential. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or C++, and familiarity with bioinformatics tools and databases is an asset.

What We Offer:

The successful candidate will be appointed as a Research Scientist I at VIDO, with a competitive salary and benefits package. The opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative research environment, with access to state-of-the-art computational resources and facilities, makes this an exciting opportunity for a motivated and talented individual.

How to Apply:

Interested candidates are asked to submit their application as a single PDF document, including a cover letter, resume, and contact information for three references. Applications will be accepted until the position is awarded.
