About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled and compassionate Rehabilitation Assistant to join our team. As a key member of the patient care team, you will work collaboratively with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality care to patients with physical and cognitive impairments.

Responsibilities will include assisting with the delivery of activities, interventions, and education assigned by therapists, as well as maintaining treatment and storage areas and ordering necessary supplies. You will also have the opportunity to work with a diverse patient population and develop your skills in areas such as wheelchair fitting and modifications, transfer training, and active and passive range of motion and exercise programs.

About You
  • Graduation from a recognized Community College Rehabilitation Assistant program or completion of a recognized combined Occupational Therapy (OTA) and Physiotherapy Assistant (PTA) College program is required.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) training or requirement to complete training within the first three months of employment is necessary.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology are also required.
  • Experience working with varied patient populations and knowledge of proper body mechanics are considered assets.
  • Excellent organizational skills, interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to work collaboratively with team members, patients, and their care partners are essential.
Hours
  • This is a permanent, full-time position with 75 hours bi-weekly.
  • Shifts include weekdays, scheduled weekends, and holidays.

The successful candidate will receive a competitive hourly rate of $25.95 and may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
