Role Summary:
The Psychology Department Student Council Member will serve as a key representative of the Arts & Science Undergraduate Society (ASUS) in the Psychology Department. This role will involve leading a team of student coordinators to plan and execute events, initiatives, and programs that promote community engagement, academic support, and professional development within the department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Event Planning and Execution: Collaborate with the Event Coordinators to plan and execute academic, social, and networking events that foster community within the department.
- Program Development: Work with the Brain Waves Coordinator to develop and implement programs that promote neuroscience education and awareness among elementary and high school students.
- Logistics and Operations: Assist the Semi-Formal Coordinator in planning and overseeing the logistics of the department's semi-formal event, including venue selection, theme, and entertainment.
- Mentorship and Support: Collaborate with the Peer Mentorship Coordinators to develop and implement mentorship programs that connect upper-year students with lower-year students to foster academic and personal growth.
- Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion: Work with the EDII Coordinator to promote and implement initiatives that enhance equity, diversity, inclusion, and indigeneity within the department.
- Communication and Outreach: Assist the Outreach Coordinator in developing and implementing outreach initiatives to connect the Chemistry department with the broader community.
- Marketing and Promotion: Collaborate with the Social Media Manager to promote events, initiatives, and programs through social media channels.
- Website Management: Assist the Website Manager in maintaining and updating the department's website, ensuring all content is accurate, relevant, and visually appealing.
- Graphic Design: Work with the Graphic Designer to create visual content for promotional materials, social media, and the department's website.
- Mental Health Initiatives: Collaborate with the Mental Health Initiatives Coordinator to develop and implement programs and events focused on promoting mental health and wellness within the department.
