Your Opportunity:
The Office of the Registrar at U of T Mississauga is dedicated to providing essential registrarial services that align with the academic objectives of the university. Our mission centers on effective and sustainable strategic enrollment management, focusing on student recruitment, retention, success, and graduation. Within a collaborative culture, we strive to achieve our goals based on values that prioritize student-focused solutions, the integrity of academic records, and continuous improvement. As an Admissions Officer, you will report to the Assistant Director of Admissions and collaborate with the Student Recruitment and Admissions team to devise and execute strategies aimed at enhancing enrollment intake. Your expertise in both domestic and international education systems will be pivotal in accurately assessing and processing admissions applications. Additionally, you will work closely with academic departments to evaluate transfer credits and maintain course equivalency information. Together with the Academic Advising team, you will address inquiries and provide guidance to prospective and newly admitted students, leveraging your extensive knowledge of university policies and procedures related to transfer credits and admission pathways.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Administering a consistent evaluation process for applications based on established standards.
- Advising potential applicants, students, parents, and guidance counselors on admissions criteria and processes, offering a range of options and potential outcomes.
- Reviewing and assessing admissions applications with attention to detail.
- Providing comprehensive explanations of admissions decisions.
- Ensuring compliance with transfer credit rules and guidelines through established standards.
- Delivering detailed information regarding processes, policies, and procedures.
- Staying informed about current technologies, best practices, and industry standards.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of four years of experience in registrarial services within a post-secondary institution.
- Experience in reviewing, assessing, and advising undergraduate students on admissions, transfer credits, and academic requirements.
- In-depth knowledge of domestic and international educational systems.
- Demonstrated understanding of undergraduate admissions and transfer credit assessment processes.
- Solid grasp of undergraduate policies, procedures, and admission requirements.
- Proficiency in student information systems and MS Office, particularly Excel, with the ability to learn new systems and develop web-based information.
- Strong analytical and interpretative skills, capable of navigating complex regulations and guidelines with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrating tact and sound judgment.
- Superior organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines effectively.
