About the Role

The Culinary Assistant plays a vital role in preparing fresh menu items for patients and clients in a dynamic kitchen environment. This position involves managing ingredient control for recipes, which includes precise measuring and portioning of ingredients, as well as the production of food items for the patient menu. The Culinary Assistant is also responsible for adhering to cost control measures, safe food handling practices, therapeutic and allergy standards, and delivering exceptional customer service in line with departmental expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare menu items according to established recipes and standards.
  • Ensure ingredient control through accurate measuring and portioning.
  • Follow safe food handling procedures to maintain health and safety standards.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients and clients.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

We invite candidates who possess the following qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Food Safety and Sanitation Certification or willingness to obtain within six months.
  • A minimum of one year of relevant experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks under time constraints.
  • Physical capability to perform the duties of the position, including heavy lifting and standing for extended periods.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and rotating shifts as required.
  • Competency in additional languages is an asset, with a preference for French.

Work Schedule

  • Casual Relief Positions available.
  • Shifts may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Compensation

The hourly wage for this position is $23.99.
