Position Overview: The Ottawa Festival Network is in search of a part-time Director of Communications to infuse their innovative skills into our organization.

About Us: The Ottawa Festival Network is a vibrant charitable entity that has been connecting professional artists from various cultural backgrounds with schools and communities for over 34 years. Our mission is to enhance awareness and foster understanding through our bilingual performances, workshops, and artist-in-residence initiatives offered in both French and English.

Role Responsibilities: The Communications Director will spearhead the communications strategies for the Ottawa Festival Network, which encompass crafting all marketing and communication materials, devising strategies, creating multimedia promotions, managing mass marketing efforts, overseeing website content, nurturing media relations, engaging with the community, and maintaining social media presence. This role is supported by interns and collaborates closely with a Graphic Designer.

Position Details: This is a three-day remote position (in-office work is available if preferred), requiring 24 hours per week, throughout the year.

Compensation: The annual salary for this three-day-a-week role is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Leave: Enjoy 9 days of paid vacation annually (pro-rated for part-time) and 6 paid sick days each year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Marketing: Develop and implement effective marketing strategies to promote programs and events within the community. This includes managing email marketing campaigns, possibly direct mail, and database management. Create an annual marketing strategy and calendar while analyzing marketing performance.
  • Marketing Materials: Collaborate with the Graphic Designer and team to produce monthly e-flyers, event posters, brochures, website visuals, and social media graphics.
  • Social Media Engagement: Enhance the organization’s social media presence through consistent and engaging content across various platforms.
  • Multimedia Promotions: Oversee the maintenance and renewal of the image database, create presentations, manage video production, and showcase videos through various channels.
  • CRM Management: Optimize the use of current tools for email marketing and database management.
  • Intern Management: Supervise interns who provide support for this role.
  • Communications: Develop a comprehensive communications strategy, including writing annual reports, newsletters, and public communications. Manage public relations efforts, including press releases and articles.
  • Research: Gather relevant statistics and quotes to support communications and grant applications.

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional communication skills in both English and French.
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 4 years of professional experience in similar roles.
  • Strong understanding of communications and marketing strategies.
