About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Excavation Equipment Operator to join our team at STAR EXCAVATING LTD. As an Excavation Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for operating heavy machinery, conducting pre-operational checks, and ensuring the safe operation of equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate Heavy Equipment: Safely operate backhoe excavators and loaders to perform excavation tasks.
  • Conduct Pre-Operational Checks: Perform daily checks on equipment to ensure it is in good working condition.
  • Clean and Maintain Equipment: Clean and lubricate equipment, and refill tanks as needed.
  • Prepare Accident Reports: Document and report any accidents or incidents that occur on site.
  • Secure Special Attachments: Ensure that special attachments are securely attached to equipment.
  • Operate GPS and Navigation Equipment: Use GPS and other navigation equipment to navigate the work site.
  • Communicate Effectively: Use two-way radios and other communication equipment to communicate with team members.
  • Perform Minor Repairs: Perform minor repairs to equipment as needed.
  • Read and Interpret Blueprints: Read and interpret blueprints, maps, and specifications to understand the work site layout.
Requirements
  • Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma is required.
  • Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in excavation or a related field.
  • Work Site Environment: The work site will be outdoors.
  • Work Setting: The work setting will be at various locations.
  • Physical Demands: The job will be physically demanding.
  • Fast-Paced Environment: The work environment will be fast-paced.
  • Overtime Required: Overtime may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Steel-Toed Safety Boots: Steel-toed safety boots are required.
  • Safety Glasses/Goggles: Safety glasses/goggles are required.
