Job Summary

GFL Environmental is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Waste Management Driver to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for safely operating a vehicle to collect and transport solid waste and recyclables to designated facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate a vehicle to collect and transport solid waste and recyclables to designated facilities, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections to ensure vehicle is in good working condition.
  • Communicate with supervisors and other team members to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
  • Manage assigned routes and schedules to ensure timely and safe completion of tasks.
  • Perform daily vehicle maintenance checks and report any issues to the maintenance team.
  • Collaborate with other drivers and team members to achieve operational goals and objectives.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid Class 3 Driver's License required.
  • Minimum one year of commercial driving experience or CDL school certificate required.
  • Ability to meet relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to Company standards.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and basic repair techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend associated documents and maps.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing situations and priorities.
Physical and Mental Demands:
  • Ability to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, climb, balance, and smell.
  • Visual Requirements: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to work in usually loud conditions.
