Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Project Estimator responsible for generating precise and comprehensive cost assessments for welding, piping, and field service initiatives. This role demands a solid grasp of welding and piping standards, as well as CWB/TSSA inspection and certification protocols. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop accurate proposals based on Requests for Quotations for welding, piping, and fabrication projects
  • Examine project specifications, blueprints, and related documentation to formulate time, cost, materials, and labor estimates
  • Create conceptual sketches and scope documents for both internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate with project management, engineering, and field service teams to ensure project success
  • Offer expert knowledge to clients and team members to guarantee projects are completed on budget and on schedule
  • Support and guide throughout the project lifecycle to maintain adherence to scope and budget
  • Contribute to the mechanical design review process with insights and feedback
  • Acquire extensive knowledge of product lines, best practices, and relevant industry standards
  • Conduct site visits with clients and project teams to gather measurements and develop project scopes
  • Participate in project kick-off meetings as necessary
  • Engage with clients to clarify project needs and address any concerns
  • Present estimates and proposals to clients and stakeholders
  • Maintain professionalism in alignment with company values, including language, attire, and workmanship
  • Deliver a professional and positive customer experience
  • Be prepared for overtime and on-call duties as per company policy and employment legislation
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Completion of a college or university degree/diploma or equivalent work experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in project estimating within the welding, piping, or metal fabrication industries
  • Strong understanding of CWB and TSSA regulations and applicable certification requirements
  • Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications
  • In-depth knowledge of material and labor costs, subcontractor pricing, and project scheduling
  • Experience with estimating software and tools
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Detail-oriented with a strong emphasis on accuracy
  • Capable of multitasking and managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Familiarity with CAD software and other relevant design tools is an asset
  • Strong organizational, time management, and budget management skills
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
