Role Overview

The Cost Estimator will be responsible for managing the quoting process, ensuring all necessary information is collected and communicated effectively. Reporting directly to the Director of Cost Estimating, you will play a crucial role in supporting our sales and manufacturing teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Input customer requests for quotes (RFQs) into the tracking system.
  2. Collaborate with sales management to review quote decisions.
  3. Ensure completeness of RFQ packages and coordinate with relevant personnel.
  4. Set and monitor target dates in collaboration with the sales team.
  5. Assist manufacturing teams with additional information for RFQ accuracy.
  6. Gather internal cost data from production facilities.
  7. Verify that all quotes are comprehensive, including feasibility studies and necessary approvals.
  8. Prepare executive summary sheets for sales management approval.
  9. Distribute approved quote master sheets to the sales department.
  10. Inform division personnel of quote outcomes.
  11. Track engineering changes and communicate them to program management.
  12. Maintain a comprehensive database of quotes and their statuses.
  13. Ensure all quote files are current and accurate.
  14. Update customer requirements and quoting standards regularly.
  15. Conduct calculations for internal reviews as needed.
  16. Support program managers during customer technical review meetings.
  17. Assist with pricing inquiries related to tooling and component costs.
  18. Utilize internal and customer portals effectively.
  19. Submit customer responses for pricing in a timely manner.
  20. Ensure accuracy of exchange rates and material costs for production parts.
  21. Engage with customers regularly to maintain strong relationships.
  22. Prepare documentation for necessary meetings.
  23. Ensure quotes are delivered within specified timelines.
  24. Propose and implement improvements to the quoting process.
Qualifications:

Education: A secondary school diploma or equivalent is required, with preference for candidates who have completed a college or university program in Engineering, Finance, or a related field.

Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience as a Cost Estimator in the automotive industry is essential. Familiarity with blueprint reading and project management, along with proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word, is required. Experience with CAD and knowledge of tooling and assembly processes are advantageous.
