Overview

Your Role

As the Lead Research Consultant within our Research and Innovation Services division, you will leverage your research expertise to showcase and advance the pioneering initiatives at Stantec. This full-time, permanent role is situated in our Innovation Office, where you will engage with cutting-edge science and technology projects and facilitate access to government funding. Reporting to the Manager of Research and Innovation Services, you will contribute to our strategic objective of enhancing research services at Stantec.

Key Responsibilities

  • Educate stakeholders about the strategic application of SR&ED to bolster technical capabilities.
  • Manage the annual SR&ED claim development cycle, which includes:
    • Ensuring all team members understand and fulfill their responsibilities.
    • Collaborating with technical leaders to identify eligible SR&ED work.
    • Consolidating eligible work from various business centers into cohesive SR&ED projects.
    • Assisting researchers in articulating the eligibility of their work for SR&ED.
    • Analyzing potential claims to quantify Stantec's investments.
    • Reviewing technical descriptions and completed claims for SR&ED.
    • Handling additional SR&ED-related tasks for Canada Revenue Agency reviews.
  • Implement research service programs based on your experience to strengthen Stantec's position.

Qualifications

Skills and Experience

  • Outstanding listening and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, capable of assisting technical experts in crafting clear project descriptions.
  • Robust technical knowledge with an understanding of advanced technologies across all business sectors.
  • Experience in conducting research within a technical consulting environment.
  • Ability to work remotely via phone and email, providing and receiving guidance within specified timeframes.
  • Competence in overseeing administrative tasks while focusing on broader strategic aspects.

Education

  • A Master's or Doctoral degree in a relevant field such as science or engineering.
  • Possession of a PMP designation or relevant project management experience is a plus.
