Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist II to join our team at PHSA. As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible for providing occupational therapy assessments and treatment programs for clients/patients in the Medical and Surgical units.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct occupational therapy assessments and develop treatment plans for clients/patients in the Medical and Surgical units.
- Provide occupational therapy interventions and education to clients/patients and their families.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement treatment plans.
- Document client/patient information and progress.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and professional development opportunities.
Requirements
- Baccalaureate in Occupational Therapy and licensure with the College of Health Care and Professionals of British Columbia.
- Two (2) years of recent related experience including one (1) year in pediatrics or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
- 50 hours of post graduate course work/training related to additional procedures, techniques and job functions for assigned area.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in groups, one-on-one and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
- Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.
- Demonstrated ability to function as a team member, motivator and facilitator.
- Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation.
- Demonstrated ability to develop educational programs and materials.
- Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment.
- Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of the job.
- Demonstrated ability to critically appraise research evidence.

- Commitment to develop knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments found in the foundational documents – including Truth & Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls Calls for Justice (2019), the Declaration Act Action Plan and Remembering Keegan: A First Nations Case Study – and how they intersect across the health care system.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act
- As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have: Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples and familiarity with addressing Indigenous-specific anti-racism, anti-racism and Indigenous Cultural Safety and foundational documents and legislative commitments (The Declaration Act, the Declaration Action Plan, TRC, IPS, Remembering Keegan, etc.).
