About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Activity Aide to join our team at Craiglee Nursing Home in Scarborough. As an Activity Aide, you will play a vital role in planning and implementing recreation programs for our residents, promoting their physical, emotional, and social well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement individual and group recreation programs based on assessed needs and as assigned by the Program Manager.
  • Set up and clean activity areas and transport residents to and from programs, ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Monitor residents' behaviors and conditions during programs and report any significant changes to the Program Manager and Nursing staff.
  • Participate in the development and revision of programs under the guidance of the Program Manager.
  • Develop and maintain resident records/documentation according to department policy.
  • Collaborate with other departments to meet resident needs and provide excellent customer service.

Requirements:

  • Proof of successful completion of an approved Activation/Gerontology Degree.
  • A minimum of 1 year of working experience in Activation, an asset.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, as well as excellent documentation skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in care planning and resident assessments.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate new ideas, resident programs, and volunteer initiatives.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in working with geriatric populations, especially those with cognitive impairments.
