Your mission:

Under the guidance of the Engineering Superintendent, the Facilities Preservation Specialist (FPS) is tasked with managing the decade-long strategy for infrastructure, ensuring the optimal preservation and upkeep of our facilities. You will be instrumental in formulating and implementing significant maintenance and capital initiatives, all while prioritizing safety and adherence to engineering regulations.

  • Safety:
    • Guarantee that project teams and contractors comply with safety protocols, exceeding regulatory standards
    • Track leading safety indicators, including UKG, DATS, FLHA's, Contractor Safety Observations, and Incident Investigations
  • Engineering Systems:
    • Adhere to project management and engineering protocols, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and standards
    • Leverage essential engineering systems, demonstrating knowledge of design standards, codes, and safety requirements
    • Oversee documentation related to projects, equipment, and maintenance practices
  • Capital and Major Maintenance Project Management:
    • Plan and implement projects in alignment with the annual capital and major maintenance agenda
    • Employ the Project Development Process, CMMS, and CCMS systems
    • Estimate project expenses and prepare necessary documentation for budget considerations
    • Supervise project execution, commissioning, and optimization
  • Mill Operation and Maintenance Support:
    • Oversee concrete restoration, structural steel inspections and repairs, roof maintenance, paving, and underpinning strategies
    • Manage the Quality Management Program (QMP) and revise design standards
    • Assist with trenching and excavation authorizations
    • Provide insights for enhancing facility maintainability and reliability

Your profile:

  • Proficient understanding of OH&S safety regulations
  • Proven leadership, mentorship, and coaching capabilities
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making abilities
  • Results-driven with effective problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional oral and written communication capabilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and/or Solid Works
  • Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (Maximo)
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team setting
  • A strong desire for personal and professional growth
  • A degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, with eligibility for P.Eng registration
  • Experience in an industrial setting, preferably within a pulp mill
  • Experience with small structural and lifting monorail design
