Environmental Compliance Specialist

At Kiewit, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Compliance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our environmental program management team, you will be responsible for leading environmental compliance for a project, identifying and assessing environmental risks, and developing and implementing strategies to mitigate those risks.
Responsibilities:
- Lead environmental compliance for a project, ensuring compliance with legal and contractual requirements
- Identify, assess, and reduce environmental risks to the company
- Update environmental plans and reports as required
- Perform and oversee field inspections and monitoring, including water quality and underwater noise
- Identify and protect sensitive environmental areas, including wetlands
- Maintain project data tracking requirements and monitor environmental costs
- Develop and conduct environmental protection and awareness training for staff
- Coordinate with relevant crews and stakeholders on environmental issues
- Interpret and apply environmental specifications and drawings to minimize adverse effects on the environment and local communities
Qualifications:
- Minimum undergraduate degree in an environmental science or engineering field
- 2+ years of experience in environmental compliance for large construction projects
- Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP) designation preferred
- Working knowledge of Provincial and Federal environmental legislation
- Strong work ethic, willingness to take initiative, and passion for excellence
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Team player with ability to work independently to meet deadlines
