Job Title: Environmental Compliance Specialist

At Kiewit, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Compliance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our environmental program management team, you will be responsible for leading environmental compliance for a project, identifying and assessing environmental risks, and developing and implementing strategies to mitigate those risks.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead environmental compliance for a project, ensuring compliance with legal and contractual requirements
  • Identify, assess, and reduce environmental risks to the company
  • Update environmental plans and reports as required
  • Perform and oversee field inspections and monitoring, including water quality and underwater noise
  • Identify and protect sensitive environmental areas, including wetlands
  • Maintain project data tracking requirements and monitor environmental costs
  • Develop and conduct environmental protection and awareness training for staff
  • Coordinate with relevant crews and stakeholders on environmental issues
  • Interpret and apply environmental specifications and drawings to minimize adverse effects on the environment and local communities

Qualifications:

  • Minimum undergraduate degree in an environmental science or engineering field
  • 2+ years of experience in environmental compliance for large construction projects
  • Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP) designation preferred
  • Working knowledge of Provincial and Federal environmental legislation
  • Strong work ethic, willingness to take initiative, and passion for excellence
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Team player with ability to work independently to meet deadlines
