Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Project Director to lead our Infrastructure Projects team at Canadian Nuclear Laboratories. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for delivering large-scale, high-risk projects that are critical to our success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage high-risk projects with significant financial commitments (typically > $10M annually) and complex regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement project plans, budgets, and resource allocation strategies to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Build and lead large project teams, setting priorities and clarifying goals to achieve project objectives.
  • Review and approve work breakdowns, cost estimates, baseline schedules, and project changes.
  • Authorize project expenditures and procurement requisitions within established limits of authority.
  • Manage the performance of project team members, providing feedback, mentoring, and guidance to ensure project success.
  • Define roles and responsibilities, manage performance, and provide constructive feedback to team members.
  • Secure external and internal resources to execute projects.
  • Establish and control project scope, manage risks, and regulatory commitments.
  • Approve project scopes of work, determine project priorities, and divide responsibilities.
  • Establish and administer project budgets and schedules, and approve changes to them.
  • Manage and report on project performance to clients, senior management, and stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Possess a degree from an accredited university in a relevant discipline, such as project management, engineering, applied sciences, business, or commerce.
  • Have at least ten years of progressively responsible project experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, in a senior or lead project capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience in applying project management knowledge areas, including scope, risk, and integration, to large, high-risk projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in all phases of a project lifecycle, including project definition, commissioning, and closure.
  • Extensive knowledge of business and management principles, including strategic planning, human resources, and people management.
  • Extensive understanding of federal licensing regulations, nuclear codes and standards, and environmental regulations and standards.
