Site Construction Manager

Amacon is seeking an experienced Site Superintendent to oversee the construction of an innovative multi-family development in the Lower Mainland, BC. Reporting to the Vice President, Development & Construction, this individual will be responsible for managing the entire construction site, construction team, and trades/suppliers.
Key Responsibilities- Site Management: Supervise all aspects of the project during construction, including site work, safety, planning, and execution.
- Mentorship and Training: Mentor and train Amacon site staff on policies, procedures, systems, and technical construction means and methods.
- Workload Management: Manage the workload of the construction teams to achieve desired results.
- Document Management: Maintain construction documents at the job site, ensuring all pertinent information is readily available.
- Progress Reporting: Prepare progress reports for the Project Manager.
- Project Delivery: Ensure the project is delivered on-time and on-budget.
- Problem-Solving: Solve, anticipate, and prevent problems.
- Customer Representation: Conduct professional and ethical representation to customers, contractors, and employees.
- Scheduling: Schedule all work and material supply, preparing a two-week forecast schedule for subcontractors/suppliers.
- Quality Control: Accept material and approve completed work.
- Purchase Orders: Issue purchase orders and ensure matched waybills prior to submission.
- Supplier Relationships: Develop a good working relationship with all suppliers and subcontractors.
- Site Meetings: Chair site trade meetings and attend safety meetings.
- Deficiency Repairs: Meet with trades to arrange deficiency repairs, make changes/corrections as required.
- Inspections: Coordinate with all City and Regional inspectors and consultants for all inspections.
- Design Consultation: Consult with engineers, architects, and the owners on design problems and change orders after reviewing with the Project Manager.
- Quality Control Checklists: Complete inspections, quality control checklists, and daily reports.
- Collaboration with Safety Manager: Work in tandem with the Safety Manager.
- Safety Meetings: Attend safety meetings.
- Safety Documentation: Ensure proper safety-related documentations, programs, and initiatives are being followed.
- PPE Compliance: Ensure construction personnel adherence to all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Education: High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma is preferred.
- Experience: 10+ years' experience in construction, minimum 2 years of supervisory experience with high-rise construction and multi-family construction.
- Knowledge: Knowledge of construction building codes and building methods.
- Construction Trades: Strong understanding of the construction trades and high-rise construction projects.
- Drawings Review: Sound knowledge in reviewing and analyzing all architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
- Attention to Detail: Attention to detail and documentation.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Communication: Ability to communicate technical information.
- Time Management: Ability to work well within timelines.
- Verbal and Written Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Relationship Building: Build strong relationships with diverse internal and external groups, and work effectively and creatively in a collaborative manner.
- Decision-Making: Able to work independently and make quick decisions using sound judgment.
- Driver's License: Valid BC Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Computer Skills: Knowledge of PC and a strong understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite.
The position requires the Site Superintendent to frequently walk, stand, and climb stairs/ladders and in/around the construction site. Must maintain a professional appearance and be able to work in a construction environment in all weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, hail, wind, sleet), around hazardous chemicals, dust, dirt, and other particulates. Must also have the ability to operate an automobile, read large quantities of information, operate computer equipment, speak, hear, bend, stoop, reach, lift, move, and carry up to 100 lbs. independently. Finger dexterity is necessary.
