Position Overview

As a Research Support Assistant, you will provide essential assistance for various project requests directed to the office of Institutional Effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

Under the guidance of your supervisor, your tasks may include: conducting survey-related activities such as coding with tools like Qualtrics, developing surveys, and performing thematic analysis of qualitative data executing both primary and secondary research, including one-on-one interviews composing reports, which may involve the creation of charts in Excel designing or updating Tableau dashboards and workbooks performing quantitative data analysis analyzing program demand utilizing Lightcast software ensuring data quality and completeness through thorough checking engaging in other relevant tasks as assigned

Qualifications for Success

To excel in this role, you should possess: Strong quantitative analysis skills Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word Willingness to learn and utilize additional statistical software (such as SPSS, NVivo) Excellent verbal and written communication abilities Attention to detail Capability to work independently Preference will be given to candidates who have completed coursework in research methods, statistics, data analysis, computing science, and first-year English

Eligibility Criteria

Domestic students must meet ONE of the following conditions: 1. Enrollment in at least one (3 credit) course at Douglas College during the work term; OR 2. Enrollment in at least one (3 credit) course at Douglas College in the term preceding the work term, with an intention to enroll in the following term; OR 3. Enrollment in at least two (3 credit) courses at another accredited public post-secondary institution in B.C. during the work term; OR 4. Enrollment in at least two (3 credit) courses at another accredited public post-secondary institution in B.C. in the term preceding the work term, with an intention to enroll in the following term.
International students must meet ONE of the following conditions: 1. Full-time enrollment at Douglas College throughout the academic year; OR 2. Enrollment as an international student at another accredited public post-secondary institution in B.C. with a valid Study Permit indicating eligibility for employment on or off campus, contingent upon meeting specific criteria. Proof of full-time enrollment from the other institution is required. An original Social Insurance Number (SIN) and Study Permit are mandatory before commencing work at Douglas College. Qualified students from Douglas College will be prioritized over those from other institutions.
