We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Psychiatric Aide to join our team at Alberta Health Services. As a Psychiatric Aide, you will play a vital role in providing quality patient care and support to individuals with complex moderate to severe brain injuries.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with the provision of routine nursing care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs.
- Participate in organized activities or programs to promote patient engagement and well-being.
- Observe and report on patients' mood, health, and wellbeing to ensure timely interventions.
- Maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors by adhering to facility policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with patients and health professionals to ensure seamless care coordination.
- Completion of Grade 12.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
- Sound observation and communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary psychiatric and rehabilitation setting.
- Able to handle the physical demands of the position, including standing, walking, bending, turning, lifting weight up to 25 kg, and transferring adult patients.
- Ability to provide basic patient care and comfort, as well as cognitive, social, emotional, and psychological support to patients and their families.
- Greater than six months of experience in working with stroke and brain-injured patients.
- Direct experience in an inpatient neuro-rehabilitation setting is an asset.
