As a seasoned Senior Estimator within the Building Operations division at Pomerleau, you will play a pivotal role in driving project development and redefining industry benchmarks with your expertise and insight. Engaging in substantial building and infrastructure initiatives – ranging from $1.5 million to over $1 billion – you will collaborate closely with our proposals team and diverse client stakeholders to secure project bids and ensure successful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct a detailed quantitative assessment of materials and labor necessary for the project, confirming the accuracy of quantities provided by estimators.
- Compile a comprehensive summary of quantities based on plans and specifications, categorizing them according to standardized sections and trade functions.
- Determine project-specific pricing for essential components, including labor, equipment, and materials.
- Foster and sustain robust relationships with trade partners, consultants, and clients to meet project objectives and vision.
- Meticulously review all received bids from suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring their compliance with bid documentation during the compilation and closing phases.
- Participate in and/or coordinate the various stakeholders involved in the estimation process of design-build projects.
- Assist in identifying new subcontractors, suppliers, and service providers.
- Propose and quantify alternatives to bid documents aimed at reducing construction costs for bidding projects.
- Serve as a mentor and role model for junior team members, offering coaching and insights on best practices and industry knowledge.
This position may be ideal for you if you possess
- A University Degree or College Diploma in Construction Project Estimation or a combination of education and relevant industry experience.
- 8+ years of pertinent experience in estimating within the ICI construction sector.
- Extensive knowledge of excavation and formwork processes.
- Prior experience in leading and mentoring junior staff.
- Strong proficiency in estimation software applications.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in both official languages, written and spoken (English and French).
