Your Role:

As an integral member of the Alberta Health Services team, the Health Care Aide will play a vital role in the interdisciplinary care team, delivering personal assistance and support to our residents. It is essential to exhibit a sincere interest and respect for the residents while applying your expertise to provide comfort and support services. The facility operates with a patient-centered approach, collaborating closely with residents and their families to develop tailored care plans.

Position Overview:

In the capacity of a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will engage as a cooperative member of the multi-disciplinary team, offering personal assistance that includes aiding with daily living activities and support services to patients who require either temporary help or ongoing assistance. This role is performed in alignment with the patient care plan and the facility's policies and procedures. You will closely interact with patients, families, and caregivers throughout the care continuum, whether in home, community, or healthcare settings, assisting nurses in delivering routine care to address patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreational, and safety needs. Additionally, you will facilitate organized activities or programs and monitor and report on a patient's mood, health, and overall wellbeing. Under the supervision of a regulated health professional, you will contribute to maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors while ensuring effective communication with both patients and healthcare professionals.

Essential Qualifications:

Completion of a Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire and active registration on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory is required. A confirmation letter proving enrollment from the Directory must be provided. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum and are either in their first year of practical nursing or second year of a baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will also be considered. Proof of qualifications must be submitted.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Continuous education to fulfill the CCHSS standards and AHS qualifications is mandatory, with regular documentation of compliance required. Candidates must demonstrate organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively while working within a team environment. The physical demands of the position must be met. Knowledge of infection prevention and control (IPC) issues is essential and must be adhered to at all times. A strong attendance record is necessary, and the ability to work shifts and weekends is required. Proficiency in PC computer use and familiarity with Microsoft programs is also expected.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Connect Care is advantageous.
