About the RoleWe are seeking a skilled and motivated Farmhand to join our team at Suntastic Hothouse Inc. As a key member of our agricultural team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality produce is harvested and prepared for market.
Key Responsibilities- Grade vegetables and fruits into different grades according to size, shape, color, and volume to maximize market value.
- Clean and maintain greenhouses to ensure optimal growing conditions.
- Hand harvest vegetables and fruits, ensuring they are carefully selected and handled to prevent damage.
- Remove suckers and water sprouts from plants to promote healthy growth.
- Shear and shape trees and plants with a knife to maintain desired shapes and sizes.
- Tie and secure plants to trellises or stakes to support growth and prevent damage.
- Clean and maintain work areas to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
- Harvest crops at the optimal time to ensure maximum quality and flavor.
- Report any signs of insect or disease damage to the farm management team.
- Assist in pruning trees, shrubs, and plants to promote healthy growth and maximize yields.
- Cut horticultural crops using specialized equipment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with repetitive tasks.
- Physical stamina to perform tasks that require standing, bending, and lifting.
- Attention to detail to ensure accurate grading and harvesting.
- Ability to distinguish between colors to accurately grade produce.
