Job Title: General Tradesperson

We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile General Tradesperson to join our team at Ontario Power Generation. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to maintenance, repair, and upkeep of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine service trades duties in accordance with prescribed safety procedures and regulations.
  • Assist in performing tasks involving erecting, dismantling, reassembling, moving, loading and unloading, servicing, various fixtures, materials, structures, furniture, buildings, hardware, equipment and vehicles.
  • Carry out cleaning, laundering, and other housekeeping and janitorial tasks.
  • Carry out ground maintenance, including snow-removal.
  • Operate any vehicle or combination of vehicle and trailer up to the level trained.
  • Operate portable, hand- and power-driven tools and equipment.
  • Perform work protection code (WPC) activities up to the level trained.
  • Stock storerooms and maintain supplies.
  • Assist in preparing and serving meals, ensuring that meals are prepared on time and sufficient food is cooked to meet specific requirements.
Requirements:
  • Grade 10, or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience with food handling and janitorial/custodial experience is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work inside or outside (in all types of weather conditions).
  • Able to work alone or as a collaborative team player.
  • Ability to work occasional nights.
  • Good judgement and problem-solving skills.
  • Positive, professional and enthusiastic demeanor.
  • Must have a valid G license in good standing.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment (lift up to 50 lbs.).
