YK Freightways Inc is seeking a skilled Truck Driver - Logistics Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently across the country.
Key Responsibilities- Route Planning and Execution: Plan and execute routes to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions, using computer equipment, GPS, and other navigation devices.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections, and oversee all aspects of vehicle maintenance to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Cargo Handling: Load and unload goods, and ensure the safety and security of cargo during transportation.
- Documentation and Compliance: Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Communication and Teamwork: Relay information to central dispatch, and work collaboratively with other team members to ensure smooth operations.
- Licenses and Certifications: Hold a valid Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi trailer trucks) and Class 3/3F/DF Licence (trailer truck, vehicles with more than 3 axles).
- Personal Qualities: Possess efficient interpersonal skills, flexibility, judgement, organization, reliability, and a hardworking attitude.
- Work Environment: Work 35-40 hours per week, with a permanent work term and English as the primary work language.
