Position Overview

As a vital member of the Nova Scotia Community College's School of Trades & Technology, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of aspiring Gas Technicians.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive theoretical and hands-on training in the Gas Technician curriculum.
  • Collaborate in the design and implementation of educational programs tailored for a diverse student body, encompassing preparation, instruction, assessment, and evaluation using a variety of innovative teaching methods and technologies.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations within classroom, workshop, and laboratory settings.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry standards and continuously enhance your understanding of modern teaching methodologies, including various instructional formats such as in-person, online, and hybrid models.
  • Engage in additional responsibilities such as academic and career counseling, committee participation, program promotion, curriculum development, student work placement support, industry liaison, and representation of the college in various capacities.

Qualifications

  • A minimum educational qualification of Gasfitter B, along with a valid Gas Technician license or equivalent provincial certification.
  • At least five years of recent, full-time experience in natural gas and/or propane installation and service.
  • Proficiency in standard computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems, particularly Brightspace, is advantageous.
  • Adeptness in navigating digital environments and a commitment to leveraging technology to enhance student engagement and learning experiences.
  • Experience in adult education or training is preferred.
  • Experience in providing constructive performance feedback is a plus.
  • Knowledge of WHMIS, Occupational Health and Safety, and specific safety practices related to the occupation is essential.
  • Comfort with multimedia technologies and various platforms to facilitate engaging online and blended learning experiences.
