Job Summary

The Royal Mental Health Centre is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our mental health services, you will be responsible for providing expert nursing care and leadership to our patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Expert Nursing Care: Develop and implement comprehensive care plans, incorporating health promotion, disease prevention, and management strategies to positively impact patient outcomes.
  • Lead Clinical Practice: Demonstrate expertise in advanced nursing practice, performing comprehensive health assessments, and making clinical decisions to improve patient care.
  • Develop and Implement Programs: Assess complex clinical care issues, develop innovative approaches, and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions to improve patient outcomes.
  • Contribute to Quality Improvement: Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives, evaluating the effectiveness of nursing services on patient outcomes, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with Interdisciplinary Teams: Work collaboratively with healthcare providers to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate clinical interventions, and provide leadership on interprofessional committees.
  • Provide Education and Support: Identify learning needs of nurses and other healthcare team members, develop and implement education programs, and provide mentorship and clinical supervision to support the academic and clinical practice of team members.
  • Advocate for Patient Care: Articulate the contribution of CNS within the interprofessional healthcare team and among intersectoral stakeholders, and advocate for patient care and health care access.
Qualifications
  • Education: Master's Degree in Nursing required.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years' experience as a Registered Nurse providing services in psychiatric care and mental health.
  • Certifications: CPMHN (C) required, Current CPR certificate, Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Level C.
  • Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills, ability to work with adult learners and colleagues in a variety of settings, excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, and demonstrated commitment to own continuing academic growth and development.
