Electrical Engineer - Intermediate

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team in GTA or Waterloo offices. As an Electrical Engineer - Intermediate, you will be responsible for designing and implementing electrical systems, including power distribution, standby power & generators, motors and drives, and lighting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement electrical systems, including power distribution, standby power & generators, motors and drives, and lighting.
  • Complete condition assessments for various facilities, including report writing and participation in client meetings.
  • Prepare detailed design drawing packages for projects of varying scale, including utility interconnection, substation design support, electrical system protection and coordination, and MV power distribution.
  • Complete and review electrical design calculations, and perform electrical systems modeling using ETAP, SKM, or Easy Power.
  • Prepare contract documentation, including equipment specifications, cable/conduit schedules, installation specifications, equipment procurement documents, sub-contractor requisitions, scope-of-work, bill-of-materials, and process narratives.
  • Work as part of and potentially lead the electrical project team throughout project phases, monitoring schedule, quality of deliverables, and budgets.
  • Support during tendering and construction, including responding to RFIs, assisting GHD and client site personnel, reviewing shop drawings, evaluating electrical reports, completing site inspections, preparing testing plans, and participating in project meetings.
  • Prepare and lead electrical-specific meetings with clients, presenting design options, system functionality, and ensuring compliance with electrical codes and standards, relevant industry standards, and regulations.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Registered member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario and possess a P.Eng. license.
  • 5-10 years of experience involved in the design and implementation of electrical systems, including power distribution, standby power & generators, motors and drives, and lighting.
  • Excellent knowledge of Canadian electrical codes and standards, US codes and standards, and relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills, demonstrated ability to pay attention to detail, and continual diligence to follow-up.
  • Self-motivated, with a strong desire to learn, and well-organized, able to multi-task and lead multiple projects.
