Respiratory Therapist

Fraser Health is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures related to respiratory therapy, assisting with in-service education, and providing input into program development.
Responsibilities- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic assessments, interventions, and follow-ups as related to respiratory therapy, including assisting with cardiopulmonary resuscitation and providing support for initiating/maintaining mechanical ventilation support of adults, children, and infants.
- Maintain documentation by ensuring reports, records, and workload statistics are complete and accurate according to established departmental standards.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care goals, therapeutic/diagnostic strategies, and program-related issues.
- Monitor and perform required maintenance, cleaning, calibration, evaluation, and quality control of respiratory and related equipment, reporting supply needs as required, and maintaining relevant logs/reports.
- Participate in quality improvement activities, such as the development, implementation, and evaluation of written procedures and standards, development of assessment forms and patient materials, and program descriptions as required.
- Provide in-service education as required.
- Participate in meetings and departmental committees, contributing to problem identification and resolution.
- Participate in Respiratory Therapy student education and various in-services for staff and the community as required.
Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program, successful completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care credentialing exam, eligibility for membership with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) and British Columbia Society of Respiratory Therapists (BCSRT), current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Level C, and possession of and maintained Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, ability to deal with others effectively, ability to organize and prioritize work, ability to operate related equipment, and physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
