Senior Payroll Compliance Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Payroll Compliance Specialist to join our team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our Global Payroll Operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of payroll data within our SAP system and adhering to regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Support the execution of global expansion initiatives, providing insights and ensuring payroll accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
- Collaborate with the Manager, Global Payroll and Compliance to evaluate and analyze existing payroll policies, procedures, and processes to identify improvement opportunities and implement solutions.
- Conduct audits of business and compliance controls, including development and execution.
- Ensure that compliance issues are appropriately logged and remediated, and that analysis, key themes, and/or root causes are identified and impact assessed.
- Build business requirements regarding the payroll system to align with established project requirements and provide technical expertise and payroll systems support for SAP as required.
- Hold yourself accountable for ensuring the accurate administration, remittance, and reporting of payroll-related activities in compliance with relevant employment standards and legislations.
- Seek opportunities to improve/enhance payroll processes, provide insights, and recommend solutions to the Manager, Payroll and Compliance.
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting or Business or related field.
- Experience with a large ERP payroll system such as SAP or PeopleSoft is an asset but not a must.
- Payroll designation from the National Payroll Institute – Completed or in progress.
- Previous (4+ years) experience in payroll operations.
- Intermediate to advanced skills using Excel.
- Experienced in Power BI, MS Projects, Visio.
- Deep understanding and knowledge of bank policies and procedures.
- Strong knowledge of organizational structure and complexity.
- Strong understanding of payroll policies and processes.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Attentive to details and deadlines; ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Good knowledge of regulatory requirements, with ability to adapt as requirements change.
