Position Overview
We are seeking a Civil Estimation Specialist who will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy of bid costs and actual project expenses. This position involves analyzing various documents and specifications to prepare precise pricing for projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the accuracy of bid costs in relation to the actual costs incurred during project execution.
- Analyze project documents, drawings, and specifications to prepare detailed pricing.
- Conduct site reviews prior to preparing estimates.
- Perform quantity take-offs from construction drawings as necessary.
- Gather pricing information from suppliers and subcontractors to compile comprehensive estimates.
- Formulate all costs associated with tender submissions, including labor, materials, and subcontractor expenses.
- Collaborate with Operations to enhance project success and facilitate learning.
- Conduct post-bid and post-project analyses to ensure continuous improvement.
- Assist with RFPs, general contract submissions, and prequalification documents.
- Adhere to Aecon's risk management policies and protect proprietary information.
- Maintain estimating data systems to ensure accuracy and currency.
- Promote an inclusive culture that values diverse perspectives and fosters career growth.
Qualifications
- A degree or diploma in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- 2-3 years of experience in civil estimating within the construction industry.
- Familiarity with various civil construction contracts.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and documents.
- Experience with estimating software is advantageous.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective teamwork skills and a valid driver's license.
