Job Summary:
School District #42 (Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows) is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely completion and distribution of accounting records, financial data, and analyses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review, analyze, and process various accounting data and source documents.
- Perform tasks to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records.
- Develop and maintain financial reports, budgets, and projections.
- Collaborate with the Accounting Manager to ensure compliance with Canadian Public Sector Accounting Standards.
- Provide financial information and analysis to support business decisions.
Requirements:
- Completion of a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
- Completion or nearing completion of a recognized Canadian accounting designation (CPA, CPA-CA, CPA-CGA, or CPA-CMA), or equivalent credential.
- Three to five years' experience in an intermediate accounting position or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Sound knowledge of the Canadian Public Sector Accounting Standards and accounting principles.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including financial information systems (PowerSchool preferred).
- Excellent analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with tact and discretion.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- A valid B.C. driver's license.
