Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated English Teacher to join our team at Coast Tsimshian Academy. As a Senior English Educator, you will be responsible for teaching English to students in a team teaching environment, conforming to the Provincial of British Columbia curriculum guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach English to students in grades, utilizing a team teaching approach and integrating Tsimshian First Nations History and Culture where appropriate.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the needs of students, including differentiated curriculum delivery and addressing student challenges in emotional and social areas.
  • Cultivate regular, meaningful dialogue between school and home to support parental engagement in the learning process of students.
  • Participate in extra-curricular programs to engage students beyond the academic arena.
  • Engage with local culture and participate in community events.
Requirements
  • Possession of (or eligibility for) B.C. Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate.
  • Successful teaching experience in a First Nations community.
  • Ability to meet the challenges of classroom management and differentiated curriculum delivery at the senior level.
  • Familiarity with computer technology and the use of Smartboards in the delivery of curriculum.
  • Ability to cultivate regular, meaningful dialogue between school and home to support parental engagement in the learning process of students.
  • Willingness to participate in extra-curricular programs to engage students beyond the academic arena.
  • Willingness to engage with local culture and participate in community events.
