Position Summary:

The Financial Analyst / Project Controller plays a pivotal role in managing the financial aspects of projects. This position collaborates closely with project and district leadership to deliver a holistic financial perspective. Key duties encompass assessing project expenditures, generating analytical reports, managing budgets, forecasting financial trends, and ensuring robust internal controls. This role has the potential to transition into an Assistant Project Controller position, focusing on a project valued up to 500 M$.

District Overview:

The East Canada district undertakes diverse projects, including infrastructure development such as highways, bridges, public transport systems, mining site advancements, hydroelectric facilities, wind energy projects, dams, and various industrial structures. This area serves the construction and mining sectors in East Canada.

Work Location:

This role is primarily based in our Laval office, with occasional travel to project sites. Kiewit’s distinctive culture encourages relocating teams to project locations, providing numerous career advancement opportunities aligned with personal development goals and skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess forecasts utilizing historical and projected data, ensuring compliance with company standards for financial reporting.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the business to effectively relay financial reports and insights.
  • Assist the operations team in decision-making by identifying, quantifying, and communicating financial risks and opportunities.
  • Manage timelines and communicate expectations clearly to stakeholders for the timely delivery of accurate information.
  • Establish effective internal controls and serve as the primary contact for internal or external financial audits.
  • Encourage continuous improvement and advocate for positive organizational changes.
  • Build trust and ensure process credibility, fostering collaboration and communication within the organization.
  • Exhibit exceptional customer service skills, maintaining a positive demeanor to meet needs and accept assistance graciously.
  • Functional proficiency in English (both written and verbal) is advantageous for mobility across Canadian provinces. Training may be available if necessary.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five years of experience in business administration, accounting, or cost control.
  • A degree or bachelor’s in business administration, accounting, finance, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with SAP is highly preferred.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong communication (both oral and written), organizational, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Demonstrated work ethic and commitment to delivering high-quality results.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Exemplary professionalism and standards.
  • Willingness to travel as required for this position.
