Electromechanical Technician

The Electromechanical Technician is tasked with the upkeep and repair of various production machinery. This role involves diagnosing issues related to electrical, mechanical, and control systems of equipment. The technician also performs a range of preventive maintenance duties and adheres to the scheduled maintenance tasks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

TECHNICAL MANAGEMENT OF EQUIPMENT

  • Conducts electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic diagnostics during equipment failures and executes necessary repairs;
  • Carries out preventive maintenance as per the established schedule and completes maintenance documentation;
  • Performs minor inspections of low-voltage electrical panels;
  • Plans and oversees work executed by external contractors;
  • Develops technical drawings and schematics for equipment and systems when not available;
  • Ensures the functionality of instruments and backup systems;
  • Reports any irregularities in equipment and facilities;
  • Analyzes breakdowns and suggests solutions to enhance equipment reliability;
  • Mentors trainees in electromechanics;
  • Plays a critical role during power outages or emergency evacuations;
  • Documents alarms on the Building Automation System (BAS);
  • Conducts workshop tasks including conventional machining, bending, TIG welding, polishing, and passivation treatments;
  • Acts as an interim stationary machine mechanic for weekend BAS alarms, providing initial verification and referring emergencies as needed.

SUPPORT AND IMPROVEMENT INITIATIVES

  • Consults and provides guidance to operators utilizing the equipment;
  • Assists the validation team during the installation and qualification of various systems;
  • Engages in Kaizen projects alongside a multidisciplinary team;
  • Collaborates with the maintenance planner in preparing work related to equipment, backup systems, and facilities;
  • Works from technical plans and drawings;
  • Documents modifications required for various preventive maintenance tasks;
  • Adheres to health and safety regulations and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP);
  • Performs any other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Self-motivated with strong interpersonal skills;
  • Team-oriented with a keen attention to detail and analytical abilities;
  • Persistence in problem-solving;
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and prioritize tasks;
  • Basic computer skills;
  • DEP/DEC training in electromechanics or related fields;
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in a similar role;
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry is an asset;
  • Possession of a C license in electricity is a plus.
