Job Summary

The Front Store Clerk will assist the Front Store Manager with day-to-day operations, providing a smooth customer experience and promoting the store throughout the neighbourhood.

Responsibilities

  • Acknowledge and greet all customers with a smile and hello, maintaining a warm and friendly attitude.
  • Handle telephone inquiries quickly and courteously, avoiding in-store customer wait times.
  • Perform a variety of tasks, including cash handling, stock management, and maintaining store appearance.
  • Pay attention to store security, following store policy regarding shoplifters.
  • Develop product knowledge and learn about new products, knowing product locations and store layout.
  • Request cash pick-ups when large sums are accumulated, anticipating requirements for change.
  • Handle lottery and CBO tickets according to store procedures.
  • Use tact and courtesy when dealing with difficult customers, knowing whom to refer to for complaints.
  • Inform the store manager of customer complaints, comments, and concerns regarding customer service, prices, and merchandise.
  • Maintain the store's general appearance, ensuring everything is clean, restocked, and well-arranged.
  • Learn and utilize proper merchandising techniques, such as shelf label placement, stock rotation, and facing.
  • Maintain specific sections as allocated, notifying the store buyer of out-of-stock merchandise.
  • Maintain product data and inventory, ensuring the reordering process is efficient.
  • Participate in display, window, and seasonal promotion development and preparation.
  • Stay busy and productive, identifying tasks to perform between customers.

Qualifications

  • Accurately handle cash.
  • Function for extended periods while standing.
  • Preferred: customer service and cashiering experience.
  • Clear and courteous communication with customers.
  • Excellent product or service knowledge.
  • Multitasking and managing multiple clients.
  • Mature and cooperative attitude.
  • Professional image, including a name tag and proper grooming.
  • Criminal Record Check required due to the sensitive nature of the position.
